Welcome to the 4th grade!!

A little bit about me~
This is my first year teaching here at Holy Cross and as a teacher anywhere. I have always wanted to teach elementary education for as long as I can remember. So I was very blessed when I was given this opportunity to do what I have always wanted to do. I was just recently married earlier this year to my now husband, Justin Cook who has been a member of Holy Cross since he was young. I look forward to each and everyday to come to school and work with each individual student and the class as a whole.

The class schedule for the week~

Math:
This week we will be doing some math work in class only. We will be doing the next 3 lessons in the book (lessons 96-98). This is due to Iowa testing. We will be finishing up the other 2 lessons next week and taking a test on these 5 lessons.
Reading:
We will be learning about short stories and how to write them. We will be doing some writing of our own short stories in class this week and will be sharing them next week with our classmates. be sure to have your student read their story to you. There will be no spelling this week.
Science:
We will not be doing science this week as we we will be doing math and reading in its place. We will start back up with science next week when Iowa testing is over.
Social Studies:
We will be starting chapter 9 this week. We are going to go through it slow because there will be no homwork so everything will be done in class. The chapter is Decades of Change. There are 3 lessons to this unit so please help your student stay on top of studying for the unit test by studying a little each night instead of all of it at once. On a side note, the test from chapter 8 were EXCELLENT and even better than the last one, so I was really happy to see that improvement. The vocab still needed a little work but we will work on that. There will be a retake vocab test later next week.

Religion:
Please look at 5th grade to see what is happening in Religion class, as 4th and 5th grade have this class together and the 5th grade teacher is teaching this lesson.
